The New Westminster Heritage Preservation Society is a registered charity supporting the conservation of heritage homes, buildings and structures in honour of their contribution to the City’s economy, sustainability, culture and aesthetic appeal.

NWHPS does this by:

  • identifying and advocating on behalf of heritage buildings in need of preservation, restoration or access to funding
  • offering information and resources to prospective and current heritage home owners
  • working in an advisory capacity with developers, restoration experts and the City
  • creating opportunities to access and learn about New Westminster`s heritage buildings and homes
  • fundraising  to help protect and restore our heritage buildings
  • maintaining constructive dialogue with our partners in the community

What We Do

  • advocate for heritage conservation
  • facilitate lectures, workshops, presentations and tours to promote heritage education and awareness
  • post Heritage Voice – online information about heritage homes, the ‘Top Ten’ list of endangered heritage properties, events
  • highlight heritage concerns to the broader New Westminster audience
  • undertake special research on heritage buildings and heritage areas
  • cooperate with local and provincial authorities in their heritage policy and program development
  • work with national groups like Heritage Canada to advance our mutual mandates for heritage conservation
