Heritage BC invites all British Columbians to celebrate our place and contribution to Canada, as we prepare to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.
“My Canada! My BC!” is conceived to inspire Canadians and British Columbians to embrace, explore and enjoy their own heritage places and spaces at community events.
What’s Happening for Heritage Week – February 13-19, 2017.
Week of February 13-19: Open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, the New Westminster Museum and Archives celebrates the history and people of our city from time immemorial through to today.
Week of February 13-19: Vancouver Heritage Foundation is offering a a selection of tours and talks. See their VHF Heritage Week schedule.
Wednesday, February 15: New Westminster Public Library at 7:30 PM – Archie and Dale Miller, of New Westminster Historical Society, draw on Heritage Week 2017’s theme of “My Canada” and look at the local press of 1867 and its coverage of Confederation in 1867. See the story in The New West Record.
Saturday, February 18 & Sunday, February 19 – Irving House is open from noon – 4 PM on weekends. Experience one of the oldest colonial heritage sites in BC.
Sunday, February 19 2:30-4:00 PM: Heritage Conservation Area (HCA) presentation by Britney Quail, Heritage Planning Analyst – at the Centennial Lodge in Queen’s Park. The talk is part of the Queen’s Park Residents Association General Meeting (the presentation is approximately 90 minutes, including at Q&A session).
