January 22: The aftermath of Vancouver’s one-year moratorium on heritage property demolition

Vancouver Vanishes home demo 20Jan2014QPNHS Heritage Study Speaker Series  featuring: Marco D’Agostini, Senior Heritage Planner with the City of Vancouver

Queen’s Park Neighbourhood Heritage Study’s 2015 Speaker Series begins this Thursday. Marco D’Agostini will talk about what’s happened since Vancouver imposed a one-year moratorium in response to massive demolition of heritage properties on the City’s west side.

This is our opportunity to hear some ideas and suggestions stemming from Vancouver’s Heritage Action Plan to see how we can apply them to our New Westminster heritage neighbourhoods. Come and have your say into what measures should be taken to protect your heritage neighbourhood. They could be included in recommendations to the New Westminster City Council as measures to be taken in order to protect the Queen’s Park neighbourhood initially, and other heritage neighbourhoods in the future.

The presentation will be about 20-25 minutes, followed by time  for questions and discussion.  Admission is free.
