Researching Your Home’s History

Learning how to research the history of your house can unlock many surprising secrets of its design, construction and the stories of the families who called it home.

Join New Westminster  historian and heritage expert Jim Wolf for a lively and informative session that will give you the skills and knowledge to access and use a wide-range of data and sources to reconstruct the history of your house and its place in the development of the neighbourhood and city.

The illustrated talk will help guide you to get organized and gain an understanding of all the sources of information that can be accessed both online and in the City Archives.  You will be given step by step lessons and a check-list to complete in-depth historical research on both your Royal City house and the basics on how to identify and find out more about the people who lived there.   Included will be a session on working on selected examples, with time for questions to discuss your own home’s story and research topics.
