Celebrating Emerging Talent at Bernie Legge Theatre on the Homes Tour

Local Artist and NWSS Grad Cheska Henson performing at BLT on Tour Day
Heritage New West (HNW) is proud to present Cheska Henson, 2024 winner of Arts New West’s Emerging Artist Award, as a featured performer during this year’s New Westminster Heritage Homes Tour Day on Sunday, May 25. Cheska will perform live at the historic Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen’s Park (one of the venues featured on this year’s Homes Tour) from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Cheska Henson is a local singer-songwriter whose heartfelt lyrics and soulful sound have captured the attention of audiences across New Westminster. Her work blends indie, folk, and acoustic styles with raw storytelling and emotional depth. A rising star in the city’s music scene, Cheska has performed at numerous local events and continues to build a strong following.
Her selection as Arts New West’s Emerging Artist for 2024 was one of the sparks that inspired Heritage New West to establish a new five-year funding commitment to support local emerging artists. Beginning in 2025, Heritage New West will contribute $500 annually to the Arts New West Community Development Emerging Artists Program. A similar bursary program for NWSS graduating students will begin in 2026.
All proceeds from the Heritage Artwork Collection sales will fund the HNW’s five-year grant and bursary programs.
